Debating Team – 2010/2011
This year sees the welcome return of Debating to CBC.
Coached by Mr. Byrne and Mr. O’Neill the team has already been successful in progressing from the first round of the Denny Leinster Debating Competition in UCD; congratulations to Hugh Guidera and Stephen Stack who impressed the judges on their very first outing.
Mr O’Neill, who is a former pupil of CBC and a champion debater in his own right and Mr. Byrne who is an experienced speech and drama teacher have great confidence in this year’s team, which is comprised of Transition year and senior students.
In the coming weeks the rest of the team will be taking their turn in the first rounds of the Leinsters as well as the taking part in the Trinity College Historical Society Mace competition.
We have high hopes for the boys taking part and we’re delighted that there has been such an enthusiastic response from the students and parents to the reintroduction of debating to the school.
