The school has a cross county team, coached by Mr. J Finnegan. Cross Country Running is a good way to boost fitness levels, build your heart and lungs, and feel good about yourself. The team consists of runners from first year to sixth year. In first year all students get a chance to try out for the team. The training happens during lunch time no matter the weather, with students running the ‘block’ (loop around the school) or even down to Dun Laoghaire’s West Pier and back. The school has had some fantastic runners in recent history such as Conor Dooney, winner of countless medals achieved a scholarship to Yale in 2008 for his running. Kevin Dooney was second in the 2011 All Ireland Cross Country race.
The school competes in the CBS running championships and the East Leinster, Leinsters and All-Ireland School’s running competitions, All Ireland Christian Brothers Schools Cross Country Champions and the Irish Schools Mountain running championships. From all these races the Cross Country Team has almost too many medals to count.
