CBC Parents’ Council
Welcome to the web-page of the Parents’ Council of CBC Monkstown Park. The Parents’ Council comprises of a group of parents (elected at the AGM of the Parents Association) who volunteer to work on behalf of the entire parent body in the school. All parents of current students are members of the council and your views and assistance are very important to us. The council holds monthly meetings and organises events during the year for both students and parents. Your suggestions are very welcome so please contact any member of the Parents Council with any suggestion you may have regarding interesting talks or events which we could organise. We look forward to seeing you and your sons during the year.
Our objectives are:
● To promote the role of parents and guardians as the prime educators of their children.
● To provide activities which advance the aims and ethos of CBC Monkstown Park in collaboration with the school management.
● To provide opportunities for discussion, information and consultation about matters of common interest to parents, students, and staff.
● To promote the ethos of CBC Monkstown Park for the mutual benefit of parents, students, and staff.

Upcoming Events being organised by the Parents’ Council:
Tea or Coffee anyone?
CBC Parents’ Council provides free Tea and Coffee during home Senior and Junior rugby games for parents and supporters of home and visiting teams. We are always looking for volunteers to help out – the games are usually on Wednesday afternoons or Saturday mornings.

The Parents’ Council, in conjunction with the school, provided a hot lunch for over 90 pupils and coaches from St Munchin’s and CBC Cork who visited Monkstown for a rugby blitz on Saturday January 29th. Photo taken before the rush!
Facebook Talk:
Over 50 parents braved wet and windy conditions to attend the recent Parents’ Council meeting on Facebook, presented by Darina Loakman. One of the key messages was encouraging responsible and safe use of Facebook by young people. For more details on this see:

Support for School:
Each year the Parents’ Council provides support from its resources to assist provision of useful or necessary equipment for pupils in the school, in consultation with the School Principal.
For 2011 the Council paid for new science lab experiment equipment and for 2012 a set of portable data projectors will be sponsored.
