Week of Prayer for Christian Unity

At least once a year, many Christians become aware of the great diversity of ways of worshipping God. Hearts are touched, and people realise that their neighbours’ ways are not so strange.

The event that marks this special experience is called the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity and it is celebrated from 18th-25th January 2012. The Week is promoted by the World Council of Churches (WCC), a worldwide fellowship of 349 Churches seeking unity, common witness and Christian service. The Catholic Church participates in this ecumenical initiative, despite not being a member of the WCC. The inaugural service will take place in Milltown Parish, Church of Saints Columba and Gall, Milltown Road, Dublin 6 on Wednesday the 18th of January at 8.00pm. Presented by the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Dublin and Glendalough, Dr. Michael Jackson. All are welcome to attend. Further information is available online at www.ctbi.org.uk and www.oikoumene.org.
