Business Subjects
The Business Department of CBC Monkstown is committed to preparing students for a rapidly changing world by expanding each students knowledge, experience and skills in business. We believe the knowledge, skills and ethics taught are essential for dynamic, life-long participation in a global and informational society promoting success in ones personal life, college study and career choice
Business is offered in CBC as an optional subject at Junior Cycle level. The Junior Cycle business syllabus is divided into four sections, as follows:
Section one The Business of Living
Section two Economic Awareness
Section three Enterprise
Section four Information Technology.
In second year students get the opportunity to exercise and demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills by taking part in the student enterprise awards.

Entry into the senior cycle subjects of Business, Economics and Accounting is in no way affected by the level undertaken at Junior Certificate. In fact, it is not necessary to have taken Business Studies at all.
The skills learned in business subjects have a wide range of practical applications. What is learned here can prepare students for successful careers in marketing and management jobs, for all clerical, administrative and business careers, for advertising and executive jobs in industry or apprenticeships, for civil service and local government jobs, among many, many more.
