It was a momentous day as we gathered together to celebrate the achievements of our 6th-year students at their graduation mass. The air was filled with a sense of excitement and pride as families and teachers joined in this special occasion. The students, adorned in their black jumpers, shirts and ties, stood tall, symbolising the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. The mass was a beautiful reflection of their journey, where prayers were offered for their continued success and guidance in the future. Acknowledging the students' accomplishments, growth, and resilience. It was a time to honor their achievements and the unwavering support of their families and teachers who had nurtured them throughout their educational journey.
CBC Monkstown Student Council have organised a "Clothes Drive" next Wednesday 17th, between 8am and 14:00pm. We are asking everyone in the CBC Community to support this clothes drive to aid the Simon Community & to responsibly recycle with the Clothes Pod (a Green Schools Initiative). We are taking all items of clothing even if they are not in great condition as we will be able to recycle them with the “Clothes Pod”. See the attached posters to find out what can be donated.
If you would like to contribute to our Clothes Drive, please drop your donation to our collection point on Wednesday in the CBC lower car-park. We encourage you to use this opportunity as a possible "Spring Cleanout" for households. If you would kindly share this initiative and posters with family and friends, to gather as much support as possible. The Clothes Drive is open to all, any help and support is much appreciated. We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday. Many thanks, The CBC Monkstown Student Council (in conjunction with The Green Schools Committee) The CBC sailing team qualified back in March to compete at the Irish Schools Team Racing Association (ISTRA), Nationals April 29 & 30th in the Royal St George YC. The qualifier back in March included 18 schools from Leinster competing to finish top 6 to qualify for the nationals in their province. Team racing format sailing is growing massively in schools in Ireland and involves a team 6 sailors in 3 boats racing against another team in round robin style format with a knock out stage at the end. The Team racing format is very popular in the 3rd level colleges too. CBC Monkstown had 1 team at the nationals which was hosted in the Royal St George YC over the weekend. This is the first time the school had competed in this and it was an amazing achievement for them to qualify in their first year competing! The Nationals consisted of schools from all over Ireland who were battling over the weekend in very tricky conditions due to shifty winds. Our team raced 7 races overall and won 4 which was excellent. It meant they were 3rd in their group & 5th overall. A fantastic achievement for our first season. A lot of fun was had and they enjoyed the social side of meeting new friends and dined in the dining room in the club dressed in their blazers on Saturday night.
