Congratulations to Thomas Kenward, Patrick Ryan, and the entire third-year crew for their outstanding performance at the Dalkey RC Regatta this weekend! Competing in the fiercely contested U16s category, they demonstrated exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork, ultimately securing a well-deserved victory for St. Michael's. Their months of rigorous training and unwavering commitment truly paid off, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of our students.
The highly anticipated Sports Day 2024, held on May 22nd was a huge success, bringing together students and CBC Staff for a day filled with spirited competition, camaraderie, and fun. The school grounds buzzed with excitement as participants showcased their athletic talents and teamwork across various events.
The different events such on the Track Field were the highlight of the morning, with students competing in sprints, relays, long jump, and shot put. The 100 and 400 meter dash was particularly thrilling. Meanwhile, other year groups enjoyed a variety of fun activities such as rounders, dodgeball, volleyball and tug-of-war. The laughter and cheers from these events added a festive atmosphere to the day. In the afternoon, attention turned to a charity match between the 3rd year students and the teachers. The soccer match was fiercely contested. The teachers came out on top with a 2-1 win. It was a wonderful display of community spirit and added to the enjoyment of the day. The event concluded with winning students from all year groups being awarded with a medal recognizing their outstanding performances on Sports Day. Sports Day 2024 was not just about winning but celebrating the values of effort, teamwork, and having fun. Congratulations to all participants for making this year's event memorable. Here's to another fantastic Sports Day next year! The 5th Year Biology students carried out their Ecology Field Study on the 14th of May In Castlecomer Discovery Park, Co. Kilkenny. The students carried out various qualitative and quantitative studies and investigated both the biotic and abiotic factors that influenced the organisms in the area.
A group of fifth-year French students attended the Institute of International and European Affairs (IIEA) for a special private round-table event. Students heard from the IIEA’s Director of Research, Barry Colfer, their Defence and Security researcher, Cian FitzGerald, and their Justice researcher, Dylan Marshall. Students heard about Irish security, the war in Ukraine, and the current state of global politics.
Students then engaged in a Q&A session, asking questions about their areas of interest, including France’s policy regarding the war in Ukraine, underwater cables, and the role of Ireland in international governance and the UN. The Climbing Club had their last session yesterday, followed by some pizza! We also bid farewell to our 6th Yrs Cillian, Ben, Caelan and James D (James E and Peter not pictured).
A huge well done to our 5th year students who completed their hike last Friday. They organised this hike as part of the Colours Climb to raise money for Jigsaw Youth Mental Health Services. Here are are some photos of the beautiful scenes they encountered.
Congratulations to our TY and 3rd year crews for their efforts at the
@get_rowing Grand Canal blitz on the water. Our juniors won gold and two of our TY crews took silver! |
