Third year student, Donncha Murphy, was the runner-up at the recent national final of the Junior Mace Debating Championships.
The finals day was held on Saturday in St. Conleth's College in Ballsbridge. CBC was represented by Donncha (3EOA) and Charlie Garland O'Connor (2ROD). In order to qualify for the national finals day, the two boys had to participate in a number of qualification competitions and finish in the top speakers in all of them. The competition was entered by over 300 students all over the island. On the finals, the best eight speakers after three debates qualified for the grand final. Donncha finished runner-up in the debate where he was proposing the motion that "the Irish education system fails students". CBC has been really well represented by students in the competition all year and we're very proud of all their success. Comments are closed.
