CBC is delighted to be hosting the Irish National Schools Debating Team for this year's World Championships. The competition was initially supposed to be held in Mexico but due to the Coronavirus outbreak it had to be moved online. CBC was asked by the Irish World Schools' Debating Council, of which Mr. O'Neill is a member, to host the team for their participation this year. This means that they can gather in CBC to prepare and speak against their opponents in each debate even though their opposition is in a different country.
This year's Team Ireland is made up of five members. We're incredibly proud of our own students Jack Palmer and Leon Reilly who are on the team. They are joined by Adrianne Ward (Loreto College, St Stephen's Green), Matthew Mallen (CBC Cork) and Jack Mulvihill (Terenure College). They are taking part a debate each day online against the national team of another country. There are six of these debates before the top 24 teams from around the world qualify for the knock-out stages. These debates are being held from Sunday to Friday this week. Comments are closed.
